The Problem

Recognise Any of These Around Bristol?

Settlement rarely announces itself. These are the four ways homeowners usually notice, and every one of them gets worse through a freeze-thaw winter.

A Lip That Catches Toes

A stepped joint on a walkway or entry is a liability the day someone goes over it. And it grows every winter rather than settling down.

Water Running at the House

Once a slab tilts, roof and surface runoff heads for the foundation instead of away from it. A few degrees of lost pitch does that.

A Tear-Out Quote You Hate

Demolition, a week without the driveway, the landscaping wrecked, and a bill several times what a lift costs. Most of the time it is not necessary.

Doors and Thresholds Out of Line

A sunken garage or basement slab pulls thresholds, frames and doors out of alignment. The door is the symptom; the floor is the cause.

How It Works

The Job in Four Steps

Most residential jobs are done inside a day, and the slab carries load again before we pack up.

01

Free Inspection

We look at the slab, sound it for voids, measure the drop and tell you in writing what it needs, including when that is replacement.

02

Penny-Sized Ports

A planned pattern of 5/8-inch holes goes through the slab. Compare that to the 2-3 inch holes mudjacking needs.

03

Inject and Lift

Two-part expanding polyurethane fills the cavity first, then lifts the slab back to grade in monitored increments.

04

Patch and Go

Ports patched, site cleaned, foam at load-bearing strength in 15-30 minutes. Most driveways take a car before we leave.

Our Patch of Bristol, in Detail

Water does the damage here. Driveways on the Chippens Hill slopes and around Federal Hill shed runoff along their edges season after season, and once the base washes out the slab has nothing left to sit on.

Thirteen miles on Route 72 and US Route 6 keeps next-day inspections realistic. ESPN, Lake Compounce and the Route 6 strip bring in entrance slabs and staff walkways, while Forestville and the pre-war streets bring the original walkways worth saving.

Runoff-driven washout traced to its source at the inspection, so the lift is not undone by the same water next spring.

Getting There

Twenty Minutes Out on Route 72

Local Conditions

Slope-Driven Washout Across the City

Bristol's housing runs older than most of the ring towns, with a lot of pre-war and early post-war stock in the Center and Forestville. Original walkways, short stoops and narrow driveways over shallow bases are the common failures.

Up on Chippens Hill and the sloped western edge the driver shifts toward runoff - water finding the underside of a driveway and taking the base with it. Different mechanism, same result underneath.

Local Answers

Concrete Lifting FAQs for Bristol

How soon can you inspect in Bristol?

Usually next day. Bristol is about 13 miles from Berlin, so scheduling is quick and there's no travel charge.

My 1930s walkway is uneven. Is it liftable?

Often yes. Condition decides it, not age - intact slabs with clean cracks lift well and the finish on older concrete is usually worth keeping.

Water runs down my driveway and it keeps dropping. What fixes that?

Filling the void stops the movement, but the runoff has to be addressed too or it makes another cavity. We identify what's feeding it and tell you exactly what to correct.

Still have a question?

The on-site inspection answers it properly. We look at your actual slab and put the answer in writing, and it's free either way.
